MCIS Safety Glass Sdn Bhd was incorporated on April 1973, with the participation of Malaysia Cooperative Insurance Society (MCIS) and Hindusthan Safety Glass Works Pte. Ltd, India (HSGW). Commercial production commenced in January 1975. Asahi Glass Co.Ltd.(AGC) of Japan, who being a leading glass supplier for the Automotive Industry in Japan, joined in April 1979. Henceforth the Company adapted to Japanese technology. In August 1984, Pernas International Holdings Bhd (PERNAS) which later changed its name to Tradewinds Corporation Berhad (TRADEWINDS) became as a major shareholder in line with the Malaysia Government Policy of Bumiputra participation in industry. Their vision is to be supplier of safety glass in the market that they chose to serve. Their mission to produce safety glass that meets the precise quality agreed with customers. This would be achieved through continuous improvement in quality, processes, skills, equipment and information system.
Bases on Afta The Asean Free Trade Area, encouraged and strive the objectives of company to be a supplier of glasses in worldwide and give them opportunities to promote their business. AFTA has been realized through the Common Effective Preferential Tariff (CEPT) Scheme. Under the CEPT such as import duties among member countries will be reduced to between 0-5%by the full implementation of AFTA in 2010 elimination of quantitative restrictions (import permits, quota) & other non-tariff barriers (NTBs) among ASEAN Member countries progressive transfer of products into the CEPT Scheme based on each ASEAN member's capacity and capability. Being apart from automotive, the company not only supplier safety glasses but also produce in safe deposit in other word safety box. This service is widely used by banks. The company basically operation Company is using Toyota method or Toyota Production System or be called such as Just In Time Production. The MCIS Sdn Bhd have 7 departments that involving 7 manager. The managers in the company are sales & marketing, logistic, tempered plant, planning, laminating plant, development and engineering.
